From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The county Probation Department, already under fire for failing to adequately guard young offenders, lost track of another juvenile inmate Thursday.
Guards were transporting the 17-year-old from an appointment at County/USC Medical Center when he slipped out of his handcuffs and kicked out a window of the county vehicle, just off the Long Beach Freeway in Bell, the department reported.
The escapee, who remains at large, is at least the ninth juvenile to escape this year.
