Andrea Yates Ordered to Jail for Second Trial

A judge in Houston ordered Andrea Yates to leave a state psychiatric hospital and report to jail for the start of her second capital murder trial in the drownings of her children.
Yates should report to county jail by Monday, State District Judge Belinda Hill said, denying defense lawyers’ requests that she be housed in a private Houston psychiatric facility during the retrial. Her 2002 conviction was overturned on appeal.
Yates, 41, again is pleading innocent by reason of insanity; if convicted, she could be imprisoned for life. She has been in a state psychiatric hospital since being released from prison on $200,000 bond in February.
