A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy responding to a domestic disturbance call in Mira Loma shot and killed the male suspect Saturday morning, said a department spokesman.
The deputy was responding to a call by a resident of the Country Village apartments, who said his adult son had refused to leave, said Cpl. Charles Mungle.
“The deputy got into a fight with the suspect, so much so that she was injured and had to pull a weapon and protect herself,” Mungle said.
The man, whom Mungle did not identify, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Mungle said he did not know if the man had been armed. He would not name the deputy, but said she was a 15-year law enforcement veteran. He said she was treated and released at a hospital for wounds to her face.
Mungle said the shooting would be investigated.
