Supreme Court Allows Sikh Daggers in Schools

The Canadian Supreme Court ruled that orthodox Sikh students could carry traditional daggers to school.
The court said Sikh orthodoxy requires the wearing of the daggers, known as kirpans. Canada does ban kirpans on airplanes and in some courts, however.
“Religious tolerance is a very important value of Canadian society,” Justice Louise Charron wrote in the court case, which involved 12-year-old Gurbaj Singh Multani and a school in Montreal.
