A predawn apartment fire Friday took the lives of three people in Los Angeles’ Koreatown area west of downtown, authorities said.
One of the victims may have been a child, officials said.
L.A. Fire Department investigators said the blaze, in the Park Villa Condominiums at 525 S. Ardmore Ave., burned the victims beyond recognition and officials were working to confirm their identities.
Arson investigator John Little said the fire appeared to be accidental, but its cause was under investigation.
“It doesn’t appear there was any criminal activity,” he said.
Arson unit chief John Miller said the fire began in the living room of a top-floor unit.
“It didn’t appear to be cooking- or heating-related,” he said.
Little said the victims were probably tenants of the unit.
The Fire Department received the alarm about 5 a.m. About 75 firefighters controlled the blaze in 30 minutes.
