Regulations Sought for Marijuana Dispensaries
- Share via
Faced with the opening of the first medical marijuana dispensary in an unincorporated area, the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday ordered regulations to limit where such facilities can be located.
The board, with Supervisor Mike Antonovich voting no, called for an ordinance with provisions that would bar dispensaries in residential areas and require they be at least 1,000 feet from schools, libraries and other community institutions.
There are several regulated dispensaries in cities within the county. California voters approved the medical use of marijuana in 1996.
