Take Heed of History

I felt a sense of deja vu when I read about the plight of Chinese workers in California in 1871 (“The Indispensable Chinese, and Then a Riot of Prejudice,” Rearview Mirror, Oct. 22).
The Chinese have been replaced by the “illegals” from Mexico. Oh, how I hope today’s Californians will not take out their hatred on those who are searching for a better life.
