Woman Gets 47 Years for Stabbing Girls

A woman was sentenced in Las Vegas to 47 years to life in prison for a 2003 knife attack that killed one girl and left her sister paralyzed.
Judge Donald Mosley sentenced Monique Maestas, 20, as he affirmed a death sentence for her brother, Beau, 23.
Beau and Monique Maestas attacked the girls outside a Mesquite casino.
Authorities said the attack was retaliation because the girls’ mother and her boyfriend had sold the Maestases salt in place of methamphetamine.
