No tap-dancing around this school problem

Re “Too Close to Dirty for the Dance,” Oct. 17

I am a senior at Tesoro High School. I have been to three school dances. I have been to so few because of the inappropriate and suggestive dancing. A few years ago, the problem with dances were mosh pits -- schools found them to be violent. Now schools don’t play hard rock or punk anymore. Recently, people have adapted to rap, and now they “freak” instead of moshing. I suggest schools play more styles of music so that people can still interact but that don’t encourage violence or sexual arousal. I suggest we bring back swing.

No wonder kids aren’t learning anything in schools these days. The principals are to busy worrying about how they dance instead of whether they are competent students.
