Police officers shot and killed a 34-year-old man early Thursday after he attacked one of them during a traffic stop, authorities said. The man’s name was not released, and it was not clear why he was stopped.
After obeying orders to get out of his car in the 5800 block of Babb Avenue, the man turned and threw one of the officers to the ground and assaulted him, said Steve Frasher, a spokesman for the Riverside Police Department. Police are investigating whether the suspect was armed.
The incident occurred 11 days after Riverside officers fatally shot robbery suspect Douglas Steven Cloud, who they said was unarmed but was reaching for something from the front-seat console.
