‘Death’ film finds life on both sides

RE “Bush Film: Original or Outrageous?” by Tina Daunt, Sept. 1: I don’t need to see “Death of a President” to know I have a huge problem with the premise of the film. My vote goes in the inappropriate column because the film obviously panders to rabid Bush haters and sends an absolutely screwy message to our enemies in the Islamic world.
Many films have been made about the assassination of fictional presidents, and Gabriel Range’s choice to depict a current and actual president speaks to a very sick mentality. I didn’t vote for George Bush and have many problems with his policies, but bigger problems with this kind of hatemongering.
That being said, God bless the 1st Amendment.

CONSERVATIVE pundit Ann Coulter has publicly fantasized about the murders of Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.), President Clinton, North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, Muslim leaders of Arab countries as a whole and the entire staff of the New York Times. How have conservatives reacted to these outrageous statements? Well, it turns out that Coulter is as popular as ever. “Death of a President” is a fictional drama. Conservatives need to drop hypocritical ranting.
