Three From U.S. Die in Mexico Plane Crash

Three American medical volunteers were killed when their small plane crashed into a factory wall near Ensenada, Mexico, authorities said Saturday.
The volunteers had departed from San Diego’s Brown Field Municipal Airport shortly before 1 p.m. Friday. Their Beech Bonanza BE-35 crashed less than an hour later as it made its final approach to a military airport near Ensenada, about 55 miles south of Tijuana.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
Two of the victims were from California, officials at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said: dentist Merlin James Larson, 76, of Palm Desert and nurse Brianne Nicole Shelton, 25, of San Marcos in San Diego County. The third, pilot Robert McEneany, 57, was based in Las Vegas.
