San Francisco 7, at Colorado 4: Barry Bonds’ pinch-hit, run-scoring single in the eighth broke a tie and helped the Giants end a four-game losing streak. The Giants began the eighth trailing, 3-2, but scored five times on six hits off four Colorado pitchers.
at Milwaukee 1, St. Louis 0: Geoff Jenkins homered off Tyler Johnson leading off the ninth inning and rookie Carlos Villanueva combined with two relievers on a four-hitter as the Cardinals lost for the sixth time in 11 games.
Florida 6, at New York 3: Dontrelle Willis’ strong effort helped the Marlins end a four-game losing streak and kept alive their dwindling hopes of winning the NL wild card. Willis (12-11) has won three straight starts for the first time this season.
at Houston 7, Cincinnati 2: Roger Clemens pitched six scoreless innings, Luke Scott had a three-run triple and a solo homer and Craig Biggio hit a three-run homer as the Astros won for only the third time in 10 games, a slide that has left them with fading hopes in the wild-card race.
Atlanta 7, at Washington 3: Brian McCann, Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur homered to lead the Braves.
