To win their division, the Angels are going to need lots of help. And not only the Oakland A’s playing poorly; they’ll need Tonya Harding, that Oklahoma-Oregon officiating crew, and those French ice-skating judges.

I wonder if Arte Moreno can hear the fat lady singing with 3.2 million fans having turned the turnstiles this year. With the money he is making, I can imagine why he is happy (allegedly) with Stonewall Stoneman.

To all the Angels fans, journalists and broadcasters who defend management by claiming acquiring one big bat would not have made a big difference this season, I have two words for you.
“Frank Thomas.”
The Angels could have had an extra 40 home runs and 120 RBIs for the price Bill Stoneman paid for Esteban Yan, and, perhaps more important, the A’s would not have gotten him.
In contrast, Jeff Weaver, who was signed for $8.2 million, had little to no upside.
This poses an intriguing question to Arte Moreno. How does Stoneman still have a job?
