Israeli warplanes draw troops’ fire

Lebanese troops opened fire on Israeli warplanes over southern Lebanon, the military said -- the second time they have done so since a U.N.-brokered cease-fire ended a 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas in 2006.
A senior Lebanese military official said planes flew at a medium altitude over the southern city of Tyre and the border town of Naqoura on the Mediterranean coastline. He said the planes fled. The Lebanese army said in a statement that six Israeli warplanes had violated Lebanon’s airspace.
In Jerusalem, an Israeli army spokeswoman said the military “does not elaborate on operational activity of its air force.”
