Phil Mickelson said he will play in today’s pro-am at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines. Mickelson has been bothered by congestion, shortness of breath and fatigue and his being able to play in the Buick was in doubt.
Mickelson said he took antibiotics for three days. He has a 6:42 a.m. tee time in the pro-am. Mickelson has played in the Buick 17 times and won it three times.
The PGA Tour held two player information sessions on the driving range to help educate the players on the anti-doping program that is scheduled to start in July. Tiger Woods, Mike Weir, Vijay Singh and Rory Sabbatini were among the group that gathered at 11 a.m.
Kelly Tilghman, the Golf Channel anchor who was suspended for two weeks after making a racially insensitive comment about Woods, is not going to speak to reporters and will go on the air Thursday in the channel’s first-round coverage.
