Job reductions climb in June

Job cuts announced by U.S. employers increased last month to 81,755, up 47% from 55,726 in June 2007, job placement consulting firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. said.
So far this year, companies have announced the reduction of 475,948 workers, a 21% increase from the first six months of 2007.
