Re “Trash tax doesn’t just hire police,” July 9
For my money, a politician whose every other idea is to tax the constituency is a hack without a creative bone in his or her body, and this revelation that hiking our trash fee has paid for expenses other than its purported purpose -- hiring police -- is disgusting.
To pour acid into the wound, City Controller Laura Chick says that if she’d known how a substantially unused portion of the revenue would be allotted, she would have promoted the tax differently.
How about lowering the rate just enough to support the alleged need?
