Re “Loyalty oaths fail the test of democracy,” March 11
Geoffrey R. Stone is confused. The oath I took as I embarked on my duties as a civil servant affirmed that I would support the Constitution, not the president, not a political party and certainly not a war. That oath inspired me to be ever mindful that my job was to serve my fellow citizens every day to the best of my ability. I can’t think why a Quaker would not support the very Constitution that gives her the right to practice her religion freely.
