Wells Fargo CEO paid $12.6 million

Wells Fargo & Co. reported total compensation for Chief Executive John Stumpf of $12.6 million in 2007, 6.9% more than in 2006.

The package included salary of $749,615, a $4.2-million bonus, stock and option awards of $3.83 million and other compensation of $436,857, according to a regulatory filing. The value of his pension and deferred compensation totaled $3.35 million.

Stumpf succeeded Richard Kovacevich as CEO last summer at the San Francisco-based bank. Kovacevich’s package was $22.9 million.
