Tuesday
Military Honor: A Marine A-4 Skyhawk on permanent display in the Santa Ana Civic Center downtown is dedicated to honor veterans and Orange County’s military history.
DNA: The Orange County Board of Supervisors receives a report from the Sheriff’s Department on the use of DNA as evidence. The board considers spending $2 million to buy 500 eSlate voting machines and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail Printers.
Wednesday
Housing: The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission hosts the first in a series of community meetings, this one in south San Gabriel, to discuss development and housing priorities targeted at low- and moderate-income areas.
Thursday
9/11 memorial: West Hollywood holds a ceremony to honor people who died on Sept. 11, 2001. Veterans Memorial Park.
Saturday
Music Center: A gala celebration marks the opening of the remodeled Mark Taper Forum.
Surfing: The 38th annual Huntington Beach Surf Contest on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier begins.
Fundraiser: The Nautica Malibu Triathlon benefits Childrens Hospital Los Angeles’ Pediatric Cancer Research Program. The race starts with a half-mile ocean swim, follows with an 18-mile bicycle ride and ends with a four-mile run along Pacific Coast Highway.
