Blue Jays’ Purcey shuts down Rays

TORONTO -- David Purcey gave up six hits in eight innings and the Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep with a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, extending their winning streak to eight games.
The American League East-leading Rays lost for the fifth time in six games.
Rod Barajas drove in the run with a second-inning sacrifice fly.
Right-hander Matt Garza (11-9) gave up one run and six hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out seven.
Purcey (3-5) ended his outing by getting out of a jam in the eighth inning, loading the bases with two out but getting Rocco Baldelli on a fly ball to left field to end the inning.
The rookie left-hander struck out seven.
