NoHo Modern grows

The chair is rare -- and at $125,000, a buyer may be even rarer, NoHo Modern co-owner Jeremy Petty says with a laugh. Designed by Sergio Rodrigues, the one-of-a-kind 1962 Quotation Marks lounge chair has a jacaranda frame and spans 3 1/2 feet; it never went into production because of materials and labor costs. NoHo Modern may sit on the piece for a while, but the recession hasn’t kept the store from expanding. It recently opened a second location in a 1920s Hollywood building with nearly 10,000 square feet of accessories and furniture, including a daybed by Rudolph M. Schindler, lounge chairs by Hans Wegner and original Noho Modern designs. Open by appointment, 6162 Santa Monica Blvd.; (323) 463-4434; www.nohomodern.com.
