Donald Felsinger, chairman and chief executive of San Diego-based Sempra Energy, received compensation of $9.2 million in 2008, a 27% increase from the previous year, according to an Associated Press calculation of figures disclosed in a regulatory filing.
But nearly two-thirds of the package came as stock options that currently have little value.
Felsinger’s package included a salary of $1.1 million, up 14% from his 2007 amount, and performance-based compensation of $2.5 million, up 25%, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
