Louisiana State (4-0)
at Georgia (3-1)
Saturday, 12:30 p.m., Ch. 2
Look out LSU, as Mississippi was No. 4 last week before it lost at South Carolina. Also, the gravy train is over. This marks a stretch in which LSU will play Georgia, Florida Auburn and Alabama in five weeks. Georgia is lucky to be 3-1 after holding off Arizona State at home, needing a blocked field goal by A.J. Green and then a last-second field goal.
The pick: LSU.
Washington (2-2)
at Notre Dame (3-1)
Saturday, 12:30 p.m. Ch. 4
You tune in Notre Dame each week to see if this is the game that costs Charlie Weis his job. Last week, the Irish survived with a last-minute touchdown, led by Jimmy Clausen, to beat Purdue. Notre Dame remains in a fragile state: It can still get to a BCS game this year, or collapse to a 6-6 finish that precipitates Weis’ exit. Washington won’t be the walkover it looked as if it would be,The Huskies have played LSU to an eight-point loss and upset USC.
The pick: Notre Dame.
Oklahoma (2-1)
at Miami (2-1)
Saturday, 5 p.m., Ch. 7
Chances are this won’t be a repeat of 2007, when Oklahoma crushed Miami in Norman, 51-13. The Sooners were led by first-year starter Sam Bradford’s five touchdown passes. Bradford has targeted this game as his return from a shoulder sprain suffered in the opening loss to Brigham Young, but if Bradford can’t go, the call will go to Landry Jones, who set a school record with six touchdown passes against Tulsa.
The pick: Miami.
