A 49-year-old man who had recently checked out of a halfway house was killed Sunday in a hit-and-run accident in Watts, Los Angeles police said.
The man, who was not identified, was struck by a motorist in a white Kia heading north on Broadway near 93rd Street about 3:25 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said that before the man was struck, he appeared to be intoxicated and was lying in the roadway.
Authorities are searching for the driver, who fled the scene.
