I fully empathize with James Salyer’s travails with Princess and his missing luggage, detailed in the Oct. 4 “On the Spot” column. I went through the same experience in September 2006, when Grand Princess lost one of my bags when we disembarked in Barcelona, Spain. I filed a report with a Princess Cruises representative at the cruise terminal before I boarded the shuttle bus. I was not surprised that my luggage was not delivered to me in Barcelona but one month later when I was back in the States. Princess also tried to charge me for shipping my luggage but backed off after I wrote a letter saying it was their fault, as I had followed the cruise line’s disembarkation instructions.
