The New York Mets put closer Francisco Rodriguez on the disqualified list and will convert his contract to a deal that is not guaranteed. The move came after Rodriguez had season-ending surgery on a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Rodriguez was hurt during an altercation with his girlfriend’s father last week and has been charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. He was suspended by the Mets for two days.
