Web Buzz: Travel website ooh.com is for those who want their adventures off-the-beaten path
- Share via
If you’re a do-it-yourself traveler who prefers unusual activities, Ooh.com offers fresh inspiration with ideas as varied as classes, day trips and adventure tours.
What’s hot: When I surfed the U.S. section of Ooh, I found trips or classes I wouldn’t have thought to look for — such as a fishing trip to catch and release giant mako sharks in Southern California or a food forage tour to learn about edible plants in New York. Click on “Find Things to Do” to see all the categories they have on a map – or “Inspire Me” to see a list of categories you might not have considered, such as cheese tasting or a trip involving paranormal activity in Britain. Head straight to the “Travel” category for trips and tours. If you have plenty of time, play with the homepage, which is set up like a bulletin board of fun things to do.
What’s not: I was hard-pressed to find something I didn’t like. The site is well organized and intuitive. You can even share a trip on Twitter, Facebook or by e-mail. My only suggestion is that the site spread the word fast and get more activities listed. Anyone can list.
