No. 3 Long Beach State vs. LOWEST REMAINING SEED, 6 p.m.— Long Beach’s three top scorers are sophomores T.J. Robinson (15.7), Larry Anderson (11.6) and Casper Ware (11.4). Robinson, a 6-foot-8 forward, led the Big West in rebounding at 10.3, becoming the first player from the conference in 12 years to average in double figures. (The last: former Pacific and Clippers center Michael Olowokondi.) Robinson has 17 double-doubles. Long Beach has won three of its last four games and is battle tested, having faced five top-20 teams plus Notre Dame and UCLA in nonconference games.
No. 4 UC Davis vs. HIGHEST REMAINING SEED, 8:30 p.m.—Davis has a freshman backcourt and a starting frontcourt that averages 47 of the team’s 70 points a game. Senior Dominic Calegari, a 6-10 center, averages 16.7 points and 5.3 rebounds, junior forward Joe Harden averages 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds and junor forward Mark Payne averages 16.3 points and 4.1 rebounds. Guards Julian Welch and Ryan Sypkens were teammates of Elk Grove Franklin High. Welch, who redshirted last season, was the conference’s freshman of the year.
