The Ducks, winless since the Olympic break, are trying to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Sharks, the team they stunned in a first-round playoff upset last season when the Sharks were seeded No. 1 and the Ducks were No. 8. The Sharks might claim the No. 1 seeding again, but the Ducks look very unlikely to sneak into the playoffs with only 15 games left. Their post-Olympic struggles seem to have particularly affected first-line center Ryan Getzlaf, who overcame an ankle injury to help Canada win the gold medal but has had turnovers and an ill-timed penalty that contributed to losses.
