Gunfire erupted inside a Studio City home early Thursday morning after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies searching for a kidnapping suspect were confronted by a person holding a gun, authorities said.
Deputies from the West Hollywood station were trying to arrest a person wanted for kidnapping, domestic violence and vandalism at 7:30 a.m. inside a home in the 11500 block of Dona Teresa Drive, according to a statement issued by the sheriff’s department. Inside the residence, someone pointed a gun at the deputies, at least one of whom opened fire.
No one was struck by gunfire or injured. Members of the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau arrived on scene and cleared the residence around 11:35 a.m, authorities said.
Several people were detained at the scene, and the subject of the warrant was arrested, according to the statement. A spokesman for the sheriff’s department could not immediately provide the identity of the suspect. The other occupants of the home were released.
