FX orders ‘American Crime Story’ from Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy is going from creepy to criminal.
The creator of FX’s “American Horror Story” is behind a new companion anthology miniseries, “American Crime Story,” which will focus each season on a different true crime story that made headlines and captured the imagination of the public.
The first installment, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” will be based on the book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson” by Jeffrey Toobin. The miniseries will run 10 episodes, and the first two hours will be written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (“The People vs. Larry Flynt”).
The project will examine the Simpson trial from the perspective of the lawyers and follow the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, detailing how a number of factors including prosecution confidence and the the LAPD’s history with the city’s “African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt,” the network said.
Production is scheduled to start in Los Angeles next year.
