Regarding Susan Sontag Patricia Clarkson narrates filmmaker Nancy D. Kates’ intimate documentary, which uses images, archived materials and accounts from friends, family and colleagues to chronicle the life and work of the influential writer and social critic, who died in 2004. 9 p.m. HBO
