Sid and Marty Krofft take new ‘Sigmund and the Sea Monsters’ to Amazon

Those sibling shapers of ‘70s Saturday morning TV, Sid and Marty Krofft, may be coming back to the small screen. The Kroffts have have a remake of “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters” in development at Amazon Studios.
The original series, which told the story of two brothers who hide a young sea monster named Sigmund in their clubhouse after he’s kicked out of his undersea family, ran on NBC from 1973 to 1975.
Like most of the Kroffts’ series, “Sigmund” featured live actors interacting with bizarre, oversized puppets.
They are best known for the series “H.R. Pufnstuf” and “Land of the Lost” among other shows.
The reimagined pilot for the series is just one of many children’s shows in development at Amazon, which has previously premiered “Creative Galaxy,” “Tumble Leaf,” “Annedroids” and “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street.”
