AS THE saying goes, when the U.S. sneezes, the world catches a viral infection of the mucous membranes, characterized by coughing, fever, malaise and chills. Something like that. Germany’s Sakurai created a financial monster that didn’t exactly catch debate fever. (Wasn’t the audience supposed to sit silently? No cheering, heckling or rollicking hysterical laughter?) The Netherlands’ Van Dam saw class warfare in the economic tsunami and leveled a critical potshot at corporate big-shots. Moving from golden parachutes to emboldened terrorists, Lebanon’s Bleibel provided the chills with his rejuvenated Osama bin Laden barb. Yikes. Somebody please find a cure.
