Mother’s Day was frightening for a Stockton mother whose 4-year-old son was nearly kidnapped by a carjacker who stole her car as he sat inside.
But the boy acted quickly and jumped out of the moving vehicle.
Stockton police said the drama unfolded Sunday as the boy sat in his mother’s vehicle while she ran inside a home in the 2200 block of East Lindsay Street to say goodbye to family members.
That’s when police say an unknown man jumped into her Honda Civic and drove away, according to the Stockton Police Department.
The boy leaped out of the moving car as it neared the end of the block. He suffered cuts and scrapes to his legs and feet.
The car thief continued driving and fled before police arrived.
The thief was described as a Latino in his 40s, 5-feet-5 with a short crew haircut.
