An Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of stealing more than 100 cell phones, laptops, tablets and other items from dozens of vehicles, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.
Israel Padilla, 33, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Saturday when a witness spotted him trying to open several cars parked near Leo Carrillo State Beach along Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Highway, said sheriff’s Lt. Anthony Rotella.
Padilla was found in possession of the stolen items as well as several tools, gloves and items used in burglaries, Rotella said.
Padilla, who is a registered sex offender, was on parole for burglary and had been released from state prison in April, authorities said.
