L.A. heat wave this weekend won’t be quite as sweat-inducing

Temperatures in some parts of Los Angeles County will still likely exceed 90 degrees this weekend, but it may not be quite as hot as meteorologists initially predicted.
As David Sweet of the National Weather Service in Oxnard put: “Not quite as hot. Still pretty warm.”
The coasts are forecast to have temperatures Saturday in the mid-70s, and from the low to mid-80s farther inland. In the valleys, temperatures in the low to mid-80s are expected.
Sunday remains the hottest day in the forecast, with temperatures in the 70s at the beaches and in the 80s inland, Sweet said. In the valleys, temperatures are expected to be the mid- to upper-80s, or possibly higher in some parts.
Some areas, like Woodland Hills, are still forecast to break 90 degrees Sunday, but the expected high has decreased by a degree or two.
A heat advisory was issued by the weather service Wednesday, warning the public to take precautions for “near-record” heat.
Even with a slight decrease in the heat forecast, many areas this weekend will have temperatures well above normal for this time of year.
The forecast for downtown L.A. on Sunday remains the same at 88 degrees. Normally the temperature would be closer to the low 70s, weather officials said.
A cooling trend is expected early next week, the weather service said.
