A three-vehicle crash involving a big rig shut down all but one lane of traffic on the northbound side of the Interstate 5 Freeway, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 10:10 p.m. just north of the Penrose Street exit in the Sun Valley neighborhood, CHP Officer Alex Rubio said.
The driver of one of the cars involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with minor injuries including neck and back pain, said Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Tim Traurig. The driver of the big rig was not injured.
The collision shut down all lanes for about 30 minutes before one lane was reopened at 10:50 p.m., the CHP said.
A SigAlert was issued at 10:42 p.m., and it was unknown how long it would take to clear the freeway.
Southbound traffic is not affected by the crash, Rubio said.
