San Francisco airport tops list of perimeter breaches, AP finds

Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose airports are among the most breached airports in the nation, according to an Associated Press investigation.
The international airports were included in a list of seven other airports nationwide that accounted for more than half of the 268 perimeter security breaches since 2004, according to an AP investigation into 31 airports.
The total number of breaches is underreported because two airports didn’t have data on perimeter breaches and four others declined to release information.
San Francisco International Airport reported 37 perimeter breaches, which was the most nationwide.
AP reported that Christopher McGrath breached a fence surrounding LAX eight times between 2012 and 2013, hoping to get on a flight.
Just last week in San Jose, Deanna Predoehl, 20, was arrested after she hopped the fence and ran into the airfield, airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said. She was spotted by an employee and stopped.
Another recognizable case was that of a 15-year-old Santa Clara boy who scaled a fence at San Jose last April and crawled into the left rear wheel of a Hawaiian Airlines flight that flew to the islands.
Authorities called it a “miracle” that the teen survived the 5 ½-hour flight.
