Death of woman found on trash conveyor belt listed as homicide

Detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Friday on a conveyor belt inside an Anaheim trash sorting facility as a homicide.
The woman, believed to be between the age of 20 and 40, has not been identified, said Lt. Tim Schmidt, spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.
He declined to elaborate on why authorities classified her death as a homicide, citing the ongoing investigation.
A section of the garbage collection site, in the 1100 block of North Blue Gum Street, remained closed Friday afternoon as coroner’s officials conducted their examination.
An employee sorting through non-recyclable and recyclable trash discovered the woman’s body under a large amount of garbage about 10:30 a.m., Schmidt said.
Contrary to early reports in other media, the body was not dismembered, he said.
The facility collects trash from Northern Orange County and parts of Los Angeles, Schmidt said. Authorities don’t know how or when the body came in.
