Pope Francis arrived in Philadelphia on Saturday on the final leg of his first visit to the U.S. It is a city with a long history of Catholic traditions, as Archbishop Charles Chaput put it when he welcomed the pope.
“This is a city that would change its name to ‘Francisville’ today if we could do that without inconveniencing the rest of North America,” he said. So we welcome you with all our hearts, and a huge amount of enthusiasm and joy.”
Here's an account from our reporters on scene, @mollyhf and @jtanfani. On a trip that's already been full of firsts, it's turned out to be quite a day.
