Chicago police have responded to a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the southwest side where at least one officer has been shot, according to reports.
The officer shot is high-ranking and is in critical condition, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Police confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that a large number of officers had responded to an incident in the 7200 block of South Lowe Avenue, but did not offer more information, as the situation “is unfolding too quickly.”
The Tribune reported police were pinned down by someone who opened fire on officers as they were leaving a building.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
