Huntington Beach police said no major incidents have occurred at the U.S. Open of Surfing as of Wednesday morning.
Department spokeswoman Jennifer Marlatt said alcohol-related violations within the venue, at Pier Plaza and on surrounding residential streets, have led to citations and arrests, but that the event overall has had “a nice, calm, family-friendly vibe.”
In 2013, the end of the annual festival and surfing competition was marred by violence.
Marlatt said the number of arrests won’t be released until the event is over. It ends Sunday.
