Hyun-Jin Ryu remains sidelined for Dodgers’ first full-squad workout

Reporting from Phoenix — As the Dodgers walked over to the practice fields at Camelback Ranch for their first full-squad workout of the spring Thursday, Hyun-Jin Ryu remained sidelined because of stiffness in the middle of his back.
Ryu underwent an MRI exam after he missed the team’s workout Wednesday. The test didn’t reveal any structural damage and Manager Don Mattingly said he still wasn’t concerned about the left-hander’s condition.
Joe Peralta still hasn’t thrown a bullpen session, but Mattingly said he thought the veteran reliever would be ready for the start of the regular season.
Mattingly also said the Dodgers plan for 20-year-old Corey Seager to work out exclusively at shortstop in this camp. The consensus No. 1 prospect in the organization, Seager is viewed by many as a future third baseman.
Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax is in camp as a senior advisor and was expected to work with the pitchers.
Mattingly addressed the team in the morning in a lengthy meeting.
