Baseball: Saugus wins VIBL championship

Three Saugus pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout to lead the Centurions past El Camino Real, 3-0, on Thursday night in the VIBL championship game at Birmingham High.
Caden Maher threw the first four innings for Saugus, and Chase Wheatcroft added two scoreless innings. Robert Winslow finished up in the seventh. Saugus pitchers struck out 10.
Tyler Grissom had an RBI single to give Saugus a 1-0 lead until the Centurions pushed across two runs in the seventh.
All-City pitcher Jeremy Polon allowed one run in six innings for ECR.
