Boys’ basketball: Verdugo Hills stays unbeaten in East Valley League

Verdugo Hills remained unbeaten in the East Valley League with a 55-45 win over Arleta on Wednesday. Albert Marmol scored 18 points and Erick Esparza had 16. Poly defeated North Hollywood, 73-36. Cesar Reyes had 22 points.
In the Western League, Elijah Stewart scored 24 points in Westchester’s 68-48 win over Palisades. University defeated Venice, 95-85. Tre Weston had 26 points and 27 rebounds for University. CJ Sinada added 24 points and Darnell Bettis 20. Jason Ball scored 35 points for Venice, which made 11 three-point shots. Fairfax defeated Hamilton, 60-49. Sage Woodruff scored 20 points.
In the West Valley League, Chris Sandifer scored 30 points in Taft’s 63-56 win over Cleveland. El Camino Real defeated Birmingham, 93-60. Julian Richardson contributed 27 points in three quarters. Granada Hills defeated Chatsworth, 44-38. Jason Horosny had 20 points.
In the Marine League, Narbonne defeated San Pedro, 71-44. Reverend Maduakor had 25 points and Jamal Hicks 16.
