Football: Loyola is contesting Drake Beasley’s transfer to La Canada
- Share via
Loyola has sent in paperwork to the Southern Section challenging the transfer of senior running back Drake Beasley to La Canada, Cubs Coach Marvin Sanders confirmed on Saturday.
The school is alleging “undue influence.”
It will now be up to La Canada and the Southern Section to investigate. On the Southern Section’s website, Beasley’s transfer is listed as “under review.”
La Canada earlier cleared Beasley to play via a valid change of residence.
Loyola’s decision puts Beasley’s status in limbo.
Loyola Athletic Director Chris O’Donnell said it’s the first time in his 18 years at Loyola that the school has filed a challenge to a student transferring.
Beasley was the team’s leading rusher last season with 1,643 yards and 17 touchdowns.
