Football: Meet Camron Pitcher, tackling machine at Corona Centennial
- Share via
How highly does Corona Centennial Coach Matt Logan think of junior linebacker Camron Pitcher?
So much that he inserted Pitcher into the starting lineup for the first time last season in the state Open Division bowl game against Concord De La Salle. Who in his sane mind starts a sophomore against De La Salle?
Well, Logan knew what he was doing. This season, Pitcher has become Centennial’s leading tackler with 87 through nine games. The Huskies are 8-1 and expected to be the No. 2 seed behind Santa Ana Mater Dei when Division 1 playoff pairings are announced on Sunday.
Another player making major contributions on defense is senior linebacker Josh Kaldas, who has 80 tackles.
UCLA commit Jaylen Shaw has five interceptions at cornerback.
